How Can We Design an Innovative Smart Lock System That Preserves the Mechanical Sense of Security?
Munio is an inclusive design process project in collaboration with DingDong AS. The concept is two folded, one part is about the smart lock as an industrial product, the second is about the smart lock-system.
The system consists of interactions between an app and key chips. Through the app, our users can control both permanent access and give access to extern delivery companies when the user is not home. The app also lets the user trace lost keys and block them.
We wanted to design a smart lock where the esthetic and ergonomic expression promotes the secure feeling, but what does security look like in 2017? Tight lines and materials is key with a large screen for the modern aspect. The lock has an active area of 1,5 meter which means that you can bring the key with you in bag/pocket to gain access.
