ECHO is a service design project about preventing emergency situations in the mountains. We want to find out how we can reduce the number of rescue operations nationwide. As our research explains, many hikers lack knowledge about taking the right precautions. Our goal is to bring awareness and enlighten them. Our mission is to create a network for safe and exciting nature experiences. Both digital and analog.
Our main formula for this project has been to explore possibilities, gather information, refine it, then iterate. Our research process gave us a tremendous amount of insight following that formula. This broad bank of information refined through different exercises made it easy for us to keep pushing the project further toward our solution.
ECHO is a product-based service, that delivers communication. We offer a system for communication without any reliance on cell towers, wi routers, or satellites. In addition, ECHO brings people together with our community aspect. Through touchpoints and platforms, we provide information on safety precautions in the mountain. We bring awareness to people by implementing our mission through trends.
"ECHO reduces the number of rescue operations by preventing emergency situations."

Establishing the network. We rely on a large user group, therefore it is an option to establish ECHO mini-towers to "kickstart" the communication network in the most used mountain areas. Read more about this in our full report.
